As part of the local suicide prevention and mental health promotion programme a new credit card sized advice card has been produced for members of Hull's black and minority ethnic communities in their first language to encourage them to seek help for signs of possible depression. This card is being made available in the top non-English languages currently requested for translation purposes in Hull: Kurdish, Turkish, Polish, French, Russian, Mandarin, Farsi, Portuguese and Arabic.
Notice of the introduction of this card has been distributed to all GP's and GP Practice Managers in Hull via a poster which explains the purpose of the card and its content in English.
We are currently seeking support with distributing the advice cards to the appropriate BME communities and would very much welcome your support with this process. If you work or have contact with any of the communities that speak the above languages and can help with distribution please let me know.
