Hull & East Riding Interfaith Meeting - 13/07/2010
Location: The Guildhall, Hull
Summary: Please read on for information on the Interfaith Forums in March and May, and also a conference and a Heritage Walk.
Information: On Tuesday 13 July 2010 after HERI's 5pm annual general meeting, there is an Open Space meeting at 5.30pm, both in committee room 1, ground floor, at the Guildhall Hull, with refreshments. You are cordially invited to both meetings. Anyone can say anything for up to 5-10 minutes in the Open Space meeting, except not foreign policy or issues outside the UK: anything relevant to the UK and HERI. Multi-media and screen are available and leaflets welcome, if this will help you squeeze your points into the maximum 5-10 minutes. For the annual general meeting please think seriously about joining HERI's Committee whose job is mainly to decide about and shape each year's Guildhall discussion topics, and also its other activities*. The 'HERI Committee' attachment gives you a clue about what's involved. Not alot of time. We need your contribution in terms of sharing ideas and perspectives and approaches, concerns, issues, hopes and problems. HERI is unofficial, voluntary, and up to its members and participants, it has no £ grant or financial £ except from its members, no paid officers or administrators, it is free to do or say what it wants, and its future is up to you, in your hands. 'We' are only this year's HERI Committee. If you think it would be interesting, you are welcome to join and help create next year's Committee. The 'agm' attachment has an application form. HERI's next discussion-meeting, on Tuesday 28 Sept 2010, 5pm in Committee Room 1, ground floor, at Hull's Guildhall, is on persecution. It will be opened by a Hull refugee whose family has suffered prejudice, harassment, persecution, first in their own country and again in Hull (actual assault not just verbal abuse, which is bad enough - and one thing leads to another). The aim of the discussion is to consider what are the causes of prejudice? All welcome to come and share your views. Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to discuss and explore possibly taking part in the Committee - tel. 01482 - 445728 (please leave a message if I'm out, I'll call you back) or Email jackie@lukes.karoo.co.uk Kind regards, Jackie Lukes www.heri.org.uk
